After earning his Master’s Degree from Carnegie Mellon University in 1974, O’Delle Abney quickly gained recognition for his unique artistic voice. His work was first showcased at King Pitcher Gallery in Pittsburgh, where it was soon placed in esteemed collections such as Jones and Laughlin Steel, Pittsburgh Plate Glass Industries, and Bidwell Cultural Center. These early placements solidified his emerging presence in the art world.
In 1977, O'Delle relocated to New York City, a pivotal moment in his career. His art was acquired by The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, marking his integration into the vibrant New York art scene. As his reputation grew, O'Delle sought to foster artistic collaboration, and in 1992, he founded Abney Galleries, an artist collective in Soho. This venture expanded in 2001 when he moved the gallery to Chelsea, where he opened World Fine Art Gallery. Over the next decade, the gallery became a hub for emerging and established artists alike.
When the gallery closed in 2010, O'Delle transitioned into a new role as an artist agent, continuing to support fellow artists while furthering his own creative practice. Today, he remains deeply rooted in New York, where he continues to live and create art that resonates with the same passion and vision that has defined his distinguished career.
